This expansion complements ongoing projects in Texas, including a $16.8 billion manufacturing plant for semiconductors called Terafab, set to begin construction in 2027. Musk's focus remains on Mars exploration and AI infrastructure development, with the new facilities expected to enhance compute power by up to 25 times over previous models. Despite these advancements, SpaceX continues to refine Starship's reusability and low-Earth orbit capabilities. The company also plans to reduce launch frequency from Florida due to progress on Starship development, signaling a strategic shift towards its long-term goals.
