The Rebels finished with a 10-4 (6-2 MWC) overall record following a 10-17 loss to Ohio in the Frisco Bowl. Memphis went 8-5 (4-4 American Conference) during former head coach Ryan Silverfield's final season in 2025. The Tigers enter their first season under new head coach Charles Huff, who went 39-25 during past stints at Marshall (32-20) and Southern Miss (7-5).

North Carolina (+8.5) vs. TCU After a 4-8 season in Bill Belichick's first year in Chapel Hill, the head coach known for his defensive strengths hired an established offensive mind to take over as offensive coordinator. Bobby Petrino, who coordinated Arkansas to the 13th-ranked total offense last season, takes over the offense and should give it a boost. The Tar Heels named Billy Edwards Jr., who played at Maryland and Wisconsin, as the starting quarterback. Defensively, Belichick has had more than a full year to recruit and teach his defensive schemes, which should lead to better results than last season, and TCU lost standout quarterback Josh Hoover, who transferred to Indiana. The model projects North Carolina to cover in 55% of simulations.

The action begins with North Carolina vs. TCU in Ireland, while No. 14 USC takes on San Jose State and UNLV faces Memphis on FOX. NC State and Virginia start action underway in the ACC. Hawai'i looks to upset Stanford for the second season in a row.
