BBC SportPublished Alpine have re-signed Franco Colapinto for the 2027 season. The move comes midway through a campaign in which the 23-year-old Argentine secured a career-best sixth-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix.

I feel very happy and very settled here and it’s been even better that we have made significant progress this year compared to last,” said Colapinto. “We have a lot more milestones to reach and I know the team is working so hard in finding performance and making the car better and better. Our long-term goals are obvious – to compete and win - and I am grateful to the team, Flavio and Steve [Nielsen, Alpine’s managing director], for the trust placed in me to be one of its drivers going into the future.

Antonelli currently holds a 59-point lead at the top of the standings over Russell and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, with an in-form Norris 83 points back in fourth. In the Constructors' Championship, Mercedes are 87 points clear of Ferrari, while McLaren trail by 162 points.
